Module content | This module focuses on formal and informal observation and assessment strategies in early childhood and the implications of the findings thereof to early childhood learning and development. It addresses the link between pedagogy and assessment; testing in the early years; systematic observation and assessment methods for collection and documentation of data; assessment planning techniques and procedures; assessment of the effect of the curriculum, environment and interactions on young children’s learning and development; effective assessment principles and practices for early childhood; child observation and identification of young children at risk; embedding assessment activates within the play-based curriculum and environments; listening to, working with and sharing assessment with families; and working with ECCE support services to support children in response of the assessment findings. |
